Polaroid Impulse AF vs. NOT AF
The Polaroid Impulse AF is one of my all-time favorite vintage instant cameras, combining a durable build, excellent image quality, and great value. However, how does its non-AF twin fare? I decide to put the two cameras head-to-head to find out which version of the Impulse is worth picking up today.

How to Fix a Broken Nikon F100 Door Latch
Переглядів 4692 місяці тому
The Nikon F100 is a tough camera - except it's got a fragile plastic latch that breaks all too often. Since replacing the door isn't an option, thankfully there are now metal 'teeth' that can replace the broken plastic pieces of the old latch. This video walks you through everything you'll need for the repair and the repair itself. Links and a written guide can be found at danfinnen.com/2024/06...
How to Use the Fuji Instax SQ1 and SQ40 Camera

The Fuji Instax SQ1 and SQ40 are nearly identical cameras, both with the same controls and labels in the same places. As of the making of this video, they're the two main cameras Fuji sells in North America as part of the Instax Square line, a great size that lands right between the tiny Instax Mini and larger Instax Wide formats. This complete guide covers all the basics, like how to use the c...
Who Needs a Grip? - Canon EOS 700 Camera Review
Переглядів 7763 місяці тому
Early in the Canon EF system, the EOS 700 came on the scene as an entry level camera. It can take great pictures and uses the same glass and 35mm film as any other EF system camera, but be warned, the EOS 700 has some of the wildest ergonomics I've ever seen on a camera of this type. Making matters worse, it also sports almost zero controls, a plastic lens mount, and uses an odd battery. The EO...

Can You Get Polaroid Spectra Film? (Not Anymore. Sorry.)
Переглядів 5 тис.6 місяців тому
Those looking for Polaroid Spectra might be scratching their heads on where the heck to get it these days. Unfortunately the film for these cameras is gone. Polaroid originally discontinued Spectra/Image/1200 type film back in 2008, but the cameras got a second life with the Impossible Project's line of Spectra film. Unfortunately, when the Impossible Project became Polaroid Originals (then jus...
No Bad Cameras, Just Bad Prices - The Polaroid I-2 Review
Переглядів 4,2 тис.7 місяців тому
The Polaroid I-2 is Polaroid's new 'pro' I-Type camera, and it has big shoes to fill if it is going to live up to the legacy of the Impossible Project I-1 while unseating the vintage greats like the SLR 680 and Impulse AF. Unfortunately, the I-2 is let down by a wonky exposure system and a massive price tag. For now, the Polaroid Now , a camera that's literally a quarter of the price, is probab...

So Close, Yet So Far - Polaroid Go Instant Film Camera Review

Great instructional video. I just got off eBay but no instruction manual was supplied. Will all three meter modes work with my AI & ASI manual focus lenses?

  • @mrca2004
    @mrca2004 4 дні тому

In the lower left corner of the viewfinder, easy to find and watch are 2 arrows with the meatball that appears when focus is nailed. It's as fast as a split prism. Manual focusing with this camera is a breeze. The GD f5 stuck those arrows in the upper R of the viewfinder, hard to find, easy to lose when focusing. This camera is not weather sealed. It will not do matrix metering with manual focus lenses like the f6. It could also be 25 years older than an october 2020 sold f6. But for the price, it's disposable compared to the f6 price.

I work as a professional photographer and I have just bought and used the i2 for the first time today… totally loved it, I am old enough to have started my working days in film and now work totally in digital - but for this, the i2… I will be charging to use this in fun shoots and will have made back the punches price plus by using it professionally and I guess that is the difference in how I am looking at this camera.. love the ability to control in manual, working using the app as a cable release is brilliant and the ability to use external flash is just so good… what I would love is a small clip on wast lever viewfinder, which I will make myself and the view finder central framing took no time at all to get use to. Haha as for the exposure compensation comment… if to the left if -2 then the 1 on the left does not surely need a - beside it…? Just saying

My daughter has been interested in film photography, specifically with a 35mm 'point and shoot' to start. I ordered her an Agfa Optima III S and a Ricoh AF-100 for decent prices. The Agfa's light meter seems to be spent, the Ricoh needs a battery to be ordered... Stopped into an old favorite antique store today where I found a very clean Nikon One Touch marked at $75.00, EEEK? Looked it up and, as you said, they're asking $100.00-$400.00... I brought the camera, a Blondie 45 and a screw-on 2x tele to cash out and dude says "$45.00". Yep. Happy to find your thoughts on this nifty-enough piece and glad it should serve her well :) She's still getting the other cameras lol We all know they like having company ;)

I mean, maybe $350-$375. But yeah, it needs to be cheaper, and they need to ask the users what they want. Gather ideas, and spitball with the community that uses the product. The film. And the cameras.

I had a Nikon F100 which I sold which I surely WISH I had NOT sold - That camera is by far the BEST film camera for the relatively SMALL price tag. Plenty of other Nikon film cameras are of course quite a bit better ... and for a HUGE price tag - The F100 has many of the same features as better cameras, but just scaled WAY down for a lower price. Built as tough as a hokey puck. Magnesium alloy body, if memory serves. NOT a Tinker Toy -

I would really love it if Polaroid would put all of it's R&D into making their instant film as good as it used to be. I would love to use my vintage One Step on a regular basis but the film is terrible. This is what people want... good Polaroid film for the millions of Polaroid cameras already in the world.

Thanks for the nice review of my latch kit. I designed this back in 2022 when my F100 developed a broken latch. I also sell a similar kit for the Nikon N80/F80 which have the exact same faults. Speaking of the other kits on eBay, they are all Chinese knock offs. The sellers all seem to be exact duplications of each other and they mostly sell knockoff car parts. Who knows what material they use, who knows the quality and by the looks of the pictures they do not even take the time to file/sand away the machining marks from the cosmetic side.

  • @spaxspore

Just a FYI to folks, the link Dan posted here is the legit designer and maker, made and designed here in USA. There are now some Chinese rip offs out there on eBay so be warned. If its coming from china its a knock off.
